After 5 long years, My Chemical Romance finally stopped in Dallas for their sold out show at the American Airlines Center. Millions of their fans were ecstatic for the reunion back in 2019 but unfortunately, the tour was postponed due to the pandemic until 2022.

Lines wrapped around the American Airlines Center with tons of people dressed from head to toe in My Chemical Romance merch and cosplay. There was tons of screaming and crying before the show even began. Once everyone finally filed in and got to their seats, the show started with a metal band called Devil Master. Their look and sound matched perfectly with the name. They began their set at maximum volume and maximum energy. They did a great job getting the crowd pumped up and ready for the next opener, Midtown.

After disbanding back in 2015, bass guitarist of My Chemical Romance, Mikey Way, convinced them to come out of retirement and perform during their tour as an opening act. Lead singer and bass guitarist Gabe Saporta came out wearing his “MIKEY FUCKIN WAY” t-shirt and performed some of their songs for the crowd.

Once Midtown ended their set, the crowd waited in anticipation for My Chemical Romance to finally enter the stage. The first five seconds of their song “The Foundations of Decay” was played on repeat for what felt like 20 minutes. The crowd was silent until they walked on stage and began performing their song “The Foundations of Decay”. They then played songs from their 2004 album Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge like “Thank you for the Venom” and “I’m Not Okay (I Promise)”.

Although Gerard Way wasn’t wearing any costumes like his previous shows, the fans still loved seeing him dressed in all black and Mikey Way wearing his green Midtown t-shirt. My Chemical Romance performed a total of 21 songs, including a fan favorite, “Welcome to the Black Parade”. When the piano came on for the intro to this song the crowd screamed at the top of their lungs. The crowd had switched from an audience to a choir during this song. Gerard Way even pointed his microphone towards the crowd multiple times during the song letting the entire arena sing certain parts. Right after they played another The Black Parade favorite, “Teenagers”.

My Chemical Romance put on an unforgettable show at the American Airlines Center. From the production, to lighting, to sound, everything was amazing. This Reunion Tour was definitely a bucket list show for me and many fans that attended.
