Knotfest Roadshow 2022 featuring Slipknot / Ice Nine Kills / Crown the Empire @ Dos Equis Pavilion, Dallas, TX

The Knotfest Roadshow Fall Tour made a loud stop at Dos Equis Pavilion on Wednesday night in Dallas, TX. And by loud I mean deafening. With local favorites Crown the Empire and theatricore Ice Nine Kills along for the ride, Slipknot rolled into town only a couple of days away from the release of their new album The End, So Far. With the amount of energy the members showed, you would never know they have been around for the past 23 years. Look away for a second and you might lose sight of Tortilla Man as he ran, climbed and jumped around the entire stage. The crowd matched the intensity as crowd surfers started flying over the barricade from the very beginning of the set. “Never trust the weather in Texas. It always kicks your ass…” vocalist Corey Taylor informed the thousands of fans as he expressed his love and appreciation for the constant support Texas has shown his band. Temperatures had cooled as the sun set, but the heat was still felt from the amount of pyro coming from the stage.

The Knot boys ripped though a 15-song setlist that covered much of their discography including crowd favorites like “Wait and Bleed”, “Duality”, and “Unsainted.” Perhaps those are my personal favorites, but the crowd surely enjoyed them as much as I did. Taylor made it clear that Slipknot and their fans are a family that welcomes in anyone and everyone. Possibly a big reason the band has lasted as long as it has with a devoted fanbase. A fanbase of all ages. Like the young teen girl that lost her mind after a drumstick was tossed to her. An entire generation that weren’t even born when Slipknot’s first album came out are joining the family that their parents were already in. Taylor just asks you to remember the family code. “If you’re 555, then I’m 666!”
