Clairo @ South Side Ballroom, Dallas, TX

The Clairo show at the South Side Ballroom was everything that I expected it to be. Performing her first show in Dallas since she performed two back in 2019, when she opened for Khalid at the American Airlines Center and headlined her own gig at the Granada Theater, Clairo brought intimacy to the large Ballroom. The lanterns surrounding Clairo gave a romantic ambience as she sang songs off her newest album, Sling. I watched as the crowd sang along to her first song “Bambi”, also the opening song to the 2021 release.

During the show, Clairo showcased her flexibility as she switched between the piano, acoustic guitar, and electric guitar. She sang effortlessly while being able to play multiple different instruments alongside her band as with each song she changed from one instrument to the next, giving off different energies based on the song she was playing.

Every aspect of the show came together perfectly, from the beautiful paper lanterns scattered around the stage, to the amazing band that played alongside Clairo. My favorite part of the show was when Clairo played her hit song “Sofia”, from her critically-acclaimed debut Immunity, and the entire crowd sang along. Performing twenty songs, including the entirety of Sling, this show was unlike any other show I’ve been to.
