Twenty One Pilots @ American Airlines Center, Dallas, TX

Twenty One Pilots are no stranger to North Texas, as they have made the trek to either Dallas or Fort Worth a handful of times over the last several years. Their popularity has only continue to grow, proof by the fact that they are headlining consecutive shows at the American Airlines Center, something they haven't done before. It's crazy to believe they are touring off of their seventh album. SEVENTH?!? Are we sure? Clancy is the seventh album in their catalog, a catalog that stretches nearly 15 years accompanied by a mountain of album sales, countless ticket sales, and a growing fanbase that looks to continue to fill out arenas for the near future.

The duo of Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun has always provided an energetic show, full of surprises and interactions with their fans. The show at the American Airlines Center proved to be no different. After opening the show with Clancy's first track, "Overcompensate", it didn't take long for Tyler, donned in a black mask, to make his way to the crowd, having them hold him up as he continued to sing "Holding on to You". Acts like this are commonplace in a Twenty One Pilots gig, something you should expect if you've seen them before. Judging from the crowd, this wasn't their first Twenty One Pilots show. So when Josh joins Tyler on the piano for "Vignette", one could only expect what was to happen next, which is Josh doing a signature backflip off of the piano, much to the excitement of the AAC crowd.

The show itself is much an ode to their latest release, Clancy, showcasing 11 of the album's 13 tracks on the setlist. There's not only a trip to a B-stage, but there are extra interactions with fans, pyrotechnics, and all of the bells and whistles you would expect at an arena show. The duo spared no expense in pleasing the crowd, playing fan favorites "Heathens" and "Ride", the latter included a young fan singing the ending lyrics of the song. The nearly 30-song set included a four-song encore with another hit in "Stressed Out" before the show concluded with their closer, "Trees". From top to bottom, Twenty One Pilots have proved to be one of the highlights in today's touring acts, as they have the power and presentation to perform fantastic shows, night after night. Are they destined for stadium tours? If they keep up their current ascension, the sky is the limit for them.
