Lana Del Rey @ Dos Equis Pavilion, Dallas, TX

Looking out into the crowd from stage left, Lana Del Rey took in the love pouring out of her fans and says, “I’m just thinking how lucky I am!” Of course love wasn’t the only thing pouring this night. Evening storms delayed the start of the show at Dos Equis Pavilion by a couple hours causing opening act, Nikki Lane, to get bumped for the night. Fans lined up outside the gates even with the heavy rain pouring down on them. Many fans standing there with no umbrella. Allowing fans time to make their way in, many stuck in traffic, Lana was set to start at around 8:45pm. The sold out crowd picked up their merch and filled the seats. It is now 9:15 and the lights cut out with a giant roar from the crowd. It’s finally time.

Del Rey started off the night with a shortened crowd favorite “Norman Fucking Rockwell.” Standing center stage, Lana’s voice just barely cut through the sound of the entire crowd singing along and that was the case the whole night. “You don’t mind if I sweat off my makeup, do ya?” With a giant screen behind her playing scenes that looked like homemade movies, Lana went through 18 songs which included a cover of Tammy Wynette’s “Stand By Your Man.” The 18 songs were just short of her entire planned set as a second wave of storms moved in causing the venue to end the show early.

Although upset from a shortened show, the crowd walked out with big smiles on their faces. There was no Summertime Sadness on this warm and rainy night. Maybe a little sadness while trying to get out of the crowded parking lot.
