The freaks gathered at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, TX as the Freaks on Parade Tour came rolling in. Rob Zombie brought Mudvayne back to the DFW area after a long, nine-year absence. Kicking off the show were the industrious rock powerhouses Powerman 5000 and Static-X, both of whom received a warm ovation from the fans. Powerman 5000, best known for their 1999 release Tonight the Stars Revolt! performed hits like "Nobody’s Real", "Supernova Goes Pop", and their most notable single, "When Worlds Collide". Static-X, touring with their mysterious lead singer Xer0, performed a blend of songs from their catalog including "Bled for Days", "Cold", and "Push It".
All was just a pre-workout for what fans had in store for the rest of the night. Mudvayne took the stage and the place became unglued. Chad Gray jumped into the crowd to perform "Dig", making fans part of the set. Mudvayne also performed a tribute to North Texas’ own Dimebag Darrell that was very fitting. Closing with their hit, "Happy?", the show continued its progression to the headlining act and the main event of the night, Rob Zombie.
Storming to the stage, Zombie brought his traditional and classic horror movie inspired stage design. Clips from House of 1000 Corpses provided a backdrop to the band's set while John 5 provided his usual antics around the stage. Zombie and company played hits like "Living Dead Girl", "Never Gonna Stop", and "Thunderkiss 65" before ending their fifteen-song set with "Dragula". Rob Zombie’s spectacular horror show delivered to the thousands of freaks that gathered on a warm Saturday Texas summer night.
