Influencer, businesswoman, and Mexican pop princess Kenia Os made a stop in Dallas as part of her K23 Tour, one of only 17 stops in the States. Known as one of the most influential Latin digital content creators, Kenia has millions upon millions of followers across her social networks, making her one of the most recognizable figures and most promising Mexican singers of her generation. While doing 'homework' for her show at the House of Blues, I caught a few videos of her shows in Mexico and the production and energy caught my attention. While her show at the House of Blues was scaled down compared to her full-scale arena performances, her energy and showmanship were on display and the love from her fanbase was clearly evident.
The large crowd at the House of Blues were in for a poptacular treat, as Kenia knows how to work the stage and whip her fans into a frenzy. The amount of cell phones up in the air shouldn't come as a surprise but it was amazing to see the stage light up using only their phones prior to Kenia coming on stage. As much as I enjoyed the show, I was a bit out of the loop as my Spanish is limited and I doubt more than a handful of words or phrases were outside of her native language. But music can transcend these barriers, as I was wowed by Kenia and her dancers choreography and floored by her dynamic vocals. With a live band in tow, Kenia was able to sing spectacularly while canvassing the House of Blues stage and she was held her own on a downtempo cover of Selena's "Como la Flor". This show exceeded my expectation and I enjoyed it thoroughly.
