The 1975 / 070 Shake @ South Side Ballroom, Dallas, TX

As if there was a Black Friday sale at the South Side Ballroom, fans of The 1975 started lining up Thanksgiving night for a chance to be in the front row of the November 25th show. I stopped by the venue on the morning of the show and the ground was covered with fans in sleeping bands and tents. The line for the show at that time was already wrapping halfway around the building. Saying anticipation was high for The 1975 would be an understatement.

Opening up the night was New Jersey rapper, 070 Shake. A hype man got the night started off right by having everyone in the crowd turn on their cell phone lights and go crazy while he played music off of a nearby Macbook. After a few minutes 070 Shake came out on stage and wowed the crowd with her incredibly-unique voice. Though small in stature, 070 Shake packed a deep and powerful voice that the crowd loved. It was clear that it was going to be a wild night when security began pulling fans out of the crowd for safety reasons before The 1975 had even taken the stage. After a slight delay from trying to get the crowd under control, The 1975 came out to thunderous screams and applause. The band opened up with their song,“The 1975” and then played “Love Me” before they stopped the show to try and control the crowd. It was at that time security asked all the photographers to leave the photo pit for everyone's safety. After giving the crowd a stern talking to, frontman Mathew Healy resumed the show.
