LCD Soundsystem / Holy Ghost! @ Palladium Ballroom

Before I left New York, I continuously heard how great LCD Soundsystem was at the Music Hall of Williamsburg and Webster Hall, respectively.  I heard how great their live show is and how the energy overwhelms you.  I heard, I heard, I heard.  But on this night, I saw.  With openers Holy Ghost!, Palladium Ballroom was turned into a dance floor with bouncy synths, electronic beats, and thunderous percussions.  Holy Ghost! warmed up the growing crowd with their serving of 80's inspired synth pop; if you closed your eyes, you could almost image the bad hairstyles and Lycra clothing.  Their set was good and can't wait to see them again when they open for Chromeo.

By time LCD took the stage, the once growing crowd reached capacity and you could sense the excitement in the air.  LCD definitely played a good portion of their latest effort, This Is Happening, but it was their old hits that really got the place moving.  Songs like "Daft Punk Is Playing At My House" and "All My Friends" whipped the crowd into a dancing frenzy, complete with a small child being held by her parents.  Seriously.  It all concluded with the song "New York, I Love You But You're Bringing Me Down" in which James Murphy (vocals) exited with a somber rendition of "Empire State of Mind".  It was all in good fun and the crowd responded with its own sing along.  Overall, it was a pretty solid performance by a fantastic band.  Pics of the show are below:
