Grammy-nominated musician and singer, Steve Lacy, quickly sold out the 4,000-capacity Factory in Deep Ellum, a promotion from the initially scheduled show at the Studio next door (capacity is just over 1,000). The line began over six hours before the doors opened and wrapped around the Factory. Tons of fans had waited in the pouring rain with umbrellas, raincoats, and plastic bags over their heads just to be able to be at the front of the show.
The show began with singer-songwriter Fousheé who performed songs from her 2021 album, time machine, and also some unreleased songs. You could tell the audience were already big fans of Fousheé by the amount of people singing along to most of her songs. Even though everyone was excited for Steve Lacy to come out after her set ended many people still cheered for an encore from Fousheé.
When Steve Lacy finally entered the stage, the crowd screamed with excitement. Lacy came on stage wearing his iconic glasses, tie, and white shirt with an 'S' written on it. Not only did he perform songs from his latest album Gemini Rights like “Static” and “Bad Habit” but he also performed some of his older songs from his 2020 album The Lo-Fis. Regardless of whether he was singing his older songs or his most recent Billboard top 100 songs, the crowd sang along to all of them. This show had a super fun atmosphere with a very interactive crowd. The Give You The World Tour was one of the best shows I’ve seen so far. The show had an amazing opener, great visuals, and the best music. If Steve Lacy is playing in your city I would definitely recommend seeing the show.
