With the fall of KDGE 102.1, "The Edge", Dallas radio has taken a hit in it's alternative rock market. KEGL 97.1, "The Eagle" picked up the slack and presented the 25th annual Edgefest at Toyota Stadium in April, showcasing artists (Blink-182, the Offspring, the Naked and Famous, et cetera) that would have normally been broadcasted on an alternative station, not "the Rock of Dallas". But don't fret my metalheads, KEGL has not given up on its annual pilgrimage of all things rock, as they continued their BFD festival at the same venue but with a seemingly ever-changing name, Starplex Pavilion (aka Gexa, Superpages.com...and Starplex, minus the Coca-Cola). With a stacked lineup including Three Days Grace, Skillet, Starset and the Pretty Reckless, BFD hit a home run with headliners Papa Roach and Stone Sour. As I've said in years past, if anyone thinks rock is dead, they are surely not listening to 97.1 and they are certainly not attending BFD. The rock gods are alive and well and their amps are turned to 11.
