Bringing his soulful lyrics to Dallas, singer-songwriter Brett Dennen took the crowd on a journey through his self described “vulnerable” new album, Por Favor. Playing to only his second live audience since the album was released, it was easy to see that Dennen was excited to be playing in front of an audience that now had access to his latest album. Though still a little too early for the crowd to sing along, Dennen stated “that just means I need to come back in five or six months." Playing mostly new material, Dennen made sure to throw in fan favorites, “Aint No Reason” and “Comeback Kid (That’s My Dog)". Both songs had the crowd dancing and singing the lyrics right back at Dennen. It should be noted that Alabama’s Firekid did one of the best jobs opening a show I have ever witnessed. Doing exactly what an opener is suppose to, Firekid had the crowd involved and eagerly awaiting Dennen to take the stage. You can catch Brett Dennen on tour now through July, where you can pick up a copy of his new album Por Favor.
