Dan Deacon @ Modern Art Museum

Seeing Dan Deacon is a musical experience. It involves listening, participation, singing and lots of dancing. Even with the simple, opening bells of "Snookered", you can only sense the anticipation of an explosion of sound and excitement created by Dan Deacon. He's honestly one of your friends because you have a friend just like him; down to earth, witty and enjoys a good time. On the other hand, I bet none of your friends make awesome music and can direct complete strangers into races and dance offs on a whim. The set at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, part of Modern 'til Midnight, showcased most of Deacon's latest effort Bromst while mixing in favorites such as "The Crystal Cat" and "Silence Like the Wind". All and all, I was more than satisfied with the show despite being cut short by the Museum staff; Dan, the band and the fans were gearing up for one more song when he was told that they could not play any more. Lame. Of course, the one song I was most looking forward to was the twelve-minute epic "Wham City" and was most likely the song cut out by time restraints. Oh well, gives me a reason to see him again.
