Mad Decent Block Party @ Zouk Outdoors, Dallas, TX

In the ever-rotating cast of electronic festivals, or festivals in general in North Texas, Mad Decent's Block Party festival has built its reputation as a force to be recon with.  The single day festival from Mad Decent's mastermind, Diplo, continues to boast one of the best lineups of EDM in the North Texas region.  Dallas has been fortunate enough to have been selected as a host city during the festival's national tour and that doesn't look to change in the foreseeable future.  Where JMBLYA has turned its focus onto hip hop and rap, and Lights All Night is a two-day, night-long affair, Mad Decent has become a 'go to' destination for most things electronic.

This years lineup was headlined by dubstep megastar, Skrillex, who performed along Diplo last year as Jack Ü.  Borgore, another dubstep heavy hitter, costarred on the bill the featured other EDM artists as Bro Safari, TJR, Juaz, and Party Favor.  ILOVEMAKONNEN was the lone live performer, who's performance never hit the spot with the EDM-favored crowd.  Outside of the scorching temperatures, the day was a pretty pleasant scene with an amazingly polite crowd.  Packs of dancing maniacs, swells of jumping festival goers, and everything in between filled the concrete jungle of Dallas.  The music boomed through the Woodall Rogers underpass, almost to a fault, but the mood and overall excitement of the day trumped all other negatives present.  Even the unnecessary amount of cops.  Seriously.  Too many cops.
