Boys Noize @ Central Park Summerstage

Coming into this summer, there were a handful of shows that I circled once I saw a confirmed date for them; one of these was Boys Noize at Central Park Summerstage. Boys Noize, aka Alex Ridha, is a German producer who creates some of the best tracks and remixes in the world today. I have missed out on some spectacular electro shows in the past, i.e. Justice, Digitalism and Boys Noize (all in Texas), so I knew that I wasn't going to miss this one. Best part of the Summerstage series, it's free.

Alex's set was put together very well, opening with two tracks from his upcoming album Power before sampling other artists. From what I've heard of his new material, Power is going to be one hell of an album. Other tracks included from the new record were the previously released "Starter" and "Jeffer", both of which really got the crowd amped. Alex also included "Waves", his recent collaboration with producer Erol Alkan, half of the Waves/Death Suite EP that will be released via his record label, Boy Noize Records (BNR), at the end of the month. He also played crowd favorites like "Lava Lava", "My Head" (Para One Remix) and his remix of Feist's "My Moon My Man". It was an awesome set, though I would have really like to have heard "& Down" or his remix of Justice's "Phantom Pt II"; with only an hour and half to work with, I was quite pleased.

enjoy.
